Prophecy is a mystery because it happens sometime in the future. We do not have all the facts until it happens.

Aside from being fun....
It is a measure of time that we humans have to choose between the Kingdom of God and Hell. The more prophecies fulfilled the the less time for humans to choose. Check out the Book of Revelation. I linked to chapter 3 because the first three chapters are mostly letters to John's churches.
