One of the chief arguments against the big bang theory is time difference of one of God's day in the Bible and the way man measures time. Sun dials, water clocks and atomic clocks are some of the ways man measures time. Each method aims for precision according to the movement of our planet.
Bible Timeline The Bible was written using a specific calendar. That calendar is not used anywhere in the world today. Its structure defines how God counts days, months, years and larger quantities of time. When God says 1000 years are as a day, he means 1000 years on his calendar.

Indeed, in your sight a thousand years are like a single day, like yesterday-already past- like an hour in the night.
